Edimax Router Login
Edimax is a Taiwanese networking brand that occupies the budget segment — affordable routers, WiFi range extenders, and USB wireless adapters. They're particularly well known for compact extenders and travel routers. The admin IP for Edimax routers is 192.168.0.1 with default credentials admin / 1234. Range extenders, which typically operate in a different subnet to avoid conflict with your main router, use 192.168.2.2 or the local hostname ap.setup.

Edimax Extender Modes
Edimax range extenders support multiple modes configured during setup:
- Range Extender — connects wirelessly to your main router and rebroadcasts the signal with the same or a different SSID
- Access Point — connects via ethernet to your main router and creates a new wireless network (better performance than repeater mode)
- MU-MIMO / Concurrent Dual-band — on AC models, uses one band for backhaul to the router and the other band for client connections

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| admin/1234 not working | Password was changed — factory reset: hold reset button 10 seconds |
| ap.setup not resolving for extender | Try 192.168.2.2 directly — the hostname requires DNS from within the extender's own WiFi |
| Extender connected but slow | Place extender closer to main router, or switch to Access Point mode with an ethernet cable for full speed |
| Can't find 192.168.0.1 after connecting to extender | Extenders use 192.168.2.2, not .0.1 — .0.1 is for the main router |
