2Wire Router Login

2Wire was a California networking company that made DSL gateways almost exclusively for AT&T and SBC Global. You're most likely here because you have an older AT&T U-verse gateway — the 2Wire 2701HG, 2700HG, 3800HGV, or similar model. 2Wire was acquired by Pace in 2012 and the 2Wire brand was eventually discontinued, but these gateways ran in millions of AT&T households for years and many are still active.

The admin address is 192.168.1.254 — the same unusual last-octet-254 that AT&T still uses on all their current gateways (BGW210, BGW320). The admin password is called the System Password and is printed on a sticker on the back of the unit. There is no universal default password.

How to Log In

  1. Connect to the 2Wire WiFi or via ethernet
  2. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.254
  3. Some models also respond to http://att.net or http://home as local hostnames
  4. Enter the System Password from the sticker on the back of the gateway
  5. The interface shows your DSL connection status, WiFi settings, and connected devices

Upgrading from 2Wire

2Wire gateways are now genuinely old hardware. WiFi 4 (802.11n) was modern in 2010; today's networks use WiFi 6 or 6E. The DSL connection speeds supported by 2Wire hardware may also cap out below what AT&T now offers on upgraded lines. If you're on AT&T and have a 2Wire gateway, AT&T can swap it for a current BGW320 — call AT&T support or log in to your AT&T account to request an equipment upgrade.

Change WiFi Password

  1. Log in at 192.168.1.254
  2. Click Home Network in the top navigation
  3. Select Wireless
  4. Update the Wireless Security Key or Pre-Shared Key
  5. Click Save

Factory Reset

Hold the reset button on the back for 10+ seconds with power on. The gateway reboots to factory defaults. The System Password reverts to the one printed on the label. AT&T service settings are typically restored automatically after reboot via AT&T's provisioning system — the gateway re-registers with AT&T's network.
