192.168.31.1 — Xiaomi Router Login
Which Routers Use 192.168.31.1?
192.168.31.1 is the default gateway for every Xiaomi and Redmi router — a deliberate choice by Xiaomi to avoid conflicts with the 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1 addresses used by virtually every other brand. This means Xiaomi routers can be placed behind other routers without IP conflicts, which is useful for apartment buildings and shared networks.

How to Log In
- Connect your device to the Xiaomi router via WiFi or Ethernet cable
- Open a browser and type 192.168.31.1 in the address bar (not the search bar)
- Alternatively, go to miwifi.com — the router intercepts this hostname locally
- Enter your admin password (set during first-time setup)
- If you have forgotten the password, see the reset section below
Default Credentials
Xiaomi routers require setting a custom admin password during the initial setup wizard — there is no universal default password printed on the device. The WiFi password is set at the same time. If someone already set up the router and you do not know the credentials, the only option is a factory reset.
| Username | Password | Notes |

Can't Access 192.168.31.1?
You're on the wrong network: If your computer got a 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x address, you are connected to a different router. Check your current gateway: on Windows run ipconfig and look for Default Gateway; on Mac go to System Settings → Network → Wi-Fi → Details. It should say 192.168.31.1.
Typing in the search bar: 192.168.31.1 typed into Google or Bing's search box will search the internet, not open your router. Click in the browser's address bar (URL bar) at the very top and type the IP there.
VPN is active: A running VPN routes traffic through a tunnel and can prevent browser access to your local network. Disconnect the VPN, access the router, make your changes, then reconnect.
Browser cache: Try a different browser or open an incognito/private window. Cached redirects sometimes block local IP access.
Factory Reset
If you have forgotten the admin password, a factory reset is the only recovery option on Xiaomi routers. Find the reset button (usually a pinhole on the back or bottom) and hold it for 10 seconds while the router is powered on. The indicator light will flash and the router will restart. You will need to run the setup wizard again and set a new admin password and WiFi password.
After reset, go to 192.168.31.1 — the setup wizard will launch automatically.
Security Recommendations
Xiaomi's firmware has improved significantly in recent years, but there are a few settings worth checking: disable remote management (Advanced → Remote Management should be off), keep firmware updated (System → Upgrade), and use a unique admin password different from your WiFi password. The MiWiFi app's remote access feature requires a Xiaomi/Mi account — if you do not use remote access, you can skip the account linkage.
