Xiaomi Router Login
Xiaomi routers use 192.168.31.1 as the default admin address — a different subnet from most brands that use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. They also use a different login model: there's no universal default password. When you first set up a Xiaomi router, you're required to create a root password as part of initial setup. That password — whatever you chose — is what you use to log in. If you never went through setup or someone else did, you'll need a factory reset.
The admin hostname miwifi.com works as an alternative to the IP address when you're connected to the router's network. Xiaomi also has the MiWiFi app for mobile management, though the web interface has more advanced settings.

The MiWiFi Interface
Xiaomi's web interface is one of the better-designed consumer router UIs — clean, fast, and data-rich. The home page shows real-time traffic, connected device count, and signal strength per band. Advanced settings include SSH access (for developer mode), VPN client, and per-device bandwidth controls. Developer mode unlocks OpenWrt compatibility on supported models.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| 192.168.31.1 not loading | Confirm you're connected to Xiaomi WiFi. Some models in repeater mode use a different IP. |
| Login fails with root + password | Factory reset — no way to recover a lost Mi router password |
| miwifi.com loads the wrong page | Type http://192.168.31.1 directly |
| Router not detected in MiWiFi app | Make sure phone is on the same WiFi; some features need a Mi account |
Factory Reset
Hold the reset button on the bottom of the router for 5–10 seconds with the device powered on. The LED will flash yellow/amber during reset. After rebooting, run first-time setup again via the MiWiFi app or web browser, and create a new root password.
