ZTE Router Login
ZTE is a major Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer — you may not see their brand name on a retail box, but their hardware powers a large share of ISP-deployed home gateways globally. If your ISP gave you a router and you see "ZTE" printed on it or in the model number, you likely have a ZXHN series gateway. ZTE also makes the MF series of 4G/LTE mobile routers and home hotspots.
The admin address is almost always 192.168.1.1. Default credentials vary: consumer models shipped directly to end users typically use admin / admin, while ISP-deployed models may use credentials set by the ISP (often printed on the label rather than a universal default). If admin/admin doesn't work, check the sticker on the back of the unit.
Default Credentials by Series

|---|---|---|---|
| ZXHN H108N / H108L | admin | admin | Common DSL gateway |

| MF286 / MF289 (4G Home) | admin | admin | 4G LTE home router |
| ISP-branded ZTE | ISP-set | On label or ISP-set | Varies — check sticker |

ZTE's Role in ISP Networks
ZTE is one of the top two GPON (fibre-to-the-home) equipment suppliers globally, alongside Huawei. ISPs in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America deploy ZTE equipment extensively. In some markets, ISPs configure the admin credentials and restrict access to prevent customers from changing WAN settings. If the standard admin/admin doesn't work on an ISP-provided ZTE, call your ISP — they may need to unlock access or provide the credentials.
Change WiFi Password
- Log in at 192.168.1.1
- Navigate to Network → WLAN → WLAN Basic (or similar, varies by model)
- Find the Pre-Shared Key or Password field
- Update the password and click Apply
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| admin/admin rejected | ISP set a custom password — check label on device, or call your ISP |
| 192.168.1.1 not reachable | Some ZTE models use 192.168.0.1 — check the label for the gateway IP |
| Can't change settings (grayed out) | ISP-locked firmware — contact ISP for access |
| Forgot password | Factory reset: hold reset button 10+ seconds |
Factory Reset
Press and hold the reset button (usually on the back, recessed) for 10–15 seconds with the unit powered on. The LEDs will flash and the device reboots. After reset, credentials return to the factory default — admin/admin on consumer models, or the printed label on ISP-deployed units.
