Arris Router Login
Arris (now CommScope) makes both consumer retail products under the SURFboard brand and ISP-deployed gateway hardware for Comcast, AT&T, Cox, and Frontier. These two product lines work very differently and have different admin IPs — a common source of confusion. If Arris sent you here because your ISP gave you the gateway, scroll down to the ISP gateway section. If you bought your own SURFboard from Amazon or a store, the first section covers you.
SURFboard Product Lines
| Series | What It Is | Admin IP | Credentials |
|---|---|---|---|
| SBG (SURFboard modem-router) | DOCSIS cable modem + WiFi router combined. One box handles everything. | 192.168.0.1 | admin / password |
| SB / SBV (modem only) | Cable modem only — no WiFi, no routing. Connect your own router to its Ethernet port. | 192.168.100.1 (diagnostics) | admin / password |
| S3GX (mesh router) | Standalone WiFi 6 mesh router — no modem. Works with any modem or gateway. | 192.168.0.1 | admin / password |
SBG Series (Modem + Router) Login
The SBG series are Arris's combination modem-routers. One box connects to the cable line and also creates your WiFi network. Popular models: SBG6400, SBG7400AC2, SBG8300.
- Connect to the SURFboard WiFi or via ethernet
- Open a browser and go to
http://192.168.0.1 - Username: admin Password: password
- The interface shows modem signal levels, router settings, and WiFi configuration in one dashboard
After logging in, the first thing to do is change the admin password under Basic → Gateway Function → Change Password. The universal "password" default means anyone on your WiFi can access the admin panel.
ISP-Deployed Arris Gateways
ISPs deploy Arris hardware under their own branding, often with customised firmware that changes the admin address and credentials. The most common deployments:
| Model | ISP | Admin IP | Password |
|---|---|---|---|
| TG3482G (Xfinity xFi Gateway) | Comcast / Xfinity | 10.0.0.1 | admin / password |
| TG1682G (Xfinity) | Comcast / Xfinity | 10.0.0.1 | admin / password |
| TG862G / TG862A | Time Warner / Spectrum | 192.168.0.1 | admin / password |
| NVG468MQ / NVG599 | AT&T U-verse | 192.168.1.254 | Device Access Code on label |
| BGW210 / BGW320 | AT&T Fiber | 192.168.1.254 | Device Access Code on label |
| DG3450 (Cox) | Cox Communications | 192.168.0.1 | admin / password |
SB Series — Modem Diagnostics Only
The SB (SURFboard) series — SB6183, SB6190, SB8200 — are cable modems without WiFi or routing. Their interface at 192.168.100.1 is read-only diagnostics: downstream signal power, upstream power, SNR, DOCSIS channel bonding, and event logs. You cannot change WiFi settings here because these modems have no WiFi. Connect a separate router to the SB modem's ethernet port for your network.
Change WiFi Password (SBG series)
- Log in at 192.168.0.1
- Go to Wireless → Primary Network
- Update the Network Password field for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
- Click Save Settings
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| 192.168.0.1 not loading on Comcast unit | Your ISP-branded Arris uses 10.0.0.1 — see the Xfinity guide |
| "password" rejected | Check if this is an ISP unit — AT&T models use the Device Access Code on the label |
| 192.168.100.1 shows no WiFi settings | Correct — SB modems are modem-only, no WiFi. Use 192.168.0.1 on an SBG combo unit instead. |
| Forgot admin password on SBG | Factory reset: press reset button on back 10+ seconds |
