TP-Link Deco Mesh WiFi — Login & Setup
TP-Link Deco is a mesh WiFi system managed primarily through the Deco app (iOS/Android) using a TP-Link ID account. Unlike standard TP-Link routers (which use tplinkwifi.net), Deco is app-first. A limited web interface exists on some models at 192.168.68.1.
Setup via Deco App (Standard Method)
- Download the TP-Link Deco app from App Store or Google Play
- Create a TP-Link ID or sign in to an existing one
- Plug the main Deco unit into your modem with an Ethernet cable
- Power on the Deco and wait for the LED to slowly pulse yellow/amber
- In the app, tap + → Add Device → Deco → select your model
- Follow the on-screen setup: set WiFi name, WiFi password, and Deco admin password
- For additional Deco units: place them and they auto-join the mesh network
Web Interface Access (Limited)
Connect to your Deco WiFi, then open a browser and try http://192.168.68.1. Models with a web interface include the Deco M9 Plus, Deco Voice X20, and some business Deco models. Most consumer Deco models (M5, M4, XE75, XE200, BE85) do not have a functional web panel — the page either redirects to the app or shows a limited status page.

Key App Settings
Parental controls: More → Parental Controls → Add Profile → assign devices → set content filters, bedtime schedules, and daily limits. Basic features are free; enhanced controls require HomeCare Pro subscription ($3.99/month).
DHCP reservations: More → Advanced → DHCP Server → DHCP Reservation → add device MAC and desired IP.
Port forwarding: More → Advanced → Port Forwarding → Add.
Router mode vs AP mode: More → Advanced → Operation Mode. In AP mode, Deco turns off its DHCP and connects to your existing router — useful when your ISP provides a gateway you cannot put in bridge mode.
Troubleshooting
Deco LED solid red: No internet connection. Check the Ethernet cable from the main Deco to your modem. Try power-cycling the modem. In the app, tap the main Deco → Details to see the specific error.
Cannot add second Deco unit: Place the new unit within range of the main Deco and power it on. In the app: + → Add Device → Deco → select model → follow prompts. If not detected, reset the new unit to factory before adding.
Changing WiFi password: App → select your Deco network → WiFi Settings (pencil icon) → edit WiFi name and password → Save. All your connected devices will need to reconnect with the new password.
