192.168.0.254 Router Login

192.168.0.254 is a less common default gateway address used by a specific set of devices. Unlike 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 which appear across hundreds of router brands, 192.168.0.254 is tied to a narrower group: TP-Link range extenders, certain Huawei CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) routers, and a generation of UK ISP-supplied gateways from BT and TalkTalk. If you're trying to access a device at this IP, one of these three is almost certainly what you have.

TP-Link Range Extenders at 192.168.0.254

TP-Link's RE-series extenders (RE200, RE305, RE500, RE605X, etc.) assign themselves 192.168.0.254 when connected to a main router that uses the 192.168.0.x subnet. The setup URL tplinkrepeater.net is a local DNS alias that resolves to the extender's current IP — easier to remember than the numeric address. Default credentials are admin / admin, though TP-Link prompts you to change them during setup.

When you first set up a TP-Link extender, it creates its own temporary WiFi network. Connect to that network and go to tplinkrepeater.net or 192.168.0.254. After setup, the extender joins your main WiFi and changes its IP to match your main router's subnet — if your router is on 192.168.1.x, the extender moves to 192.168.1.254 instead.

Huawei CPE Models

Several Huawei DSL gateways deployed by European ISPs use 192.168.0.254 — particularly older ADSL/VDSL models like the HG520, HG553, and HG630. These were common in BT (UK), Deutsche Telekom (Germany), and Orange (France) deployments during the 2008–2015 era. The admin password for ISP-deployed units is on the label; consumer retail units typically default to admin/admin.

Note: newer Huawei home WiFi routers (AX3, WS5200, etc.) use 192.168.3.1 — not 192.168.0.254. The 192.168.0.254 address is specifically the older ISP-deployed CPE hardware.

UK ISP Gateways

BT and TalkTalk in the UK deployed several generations of routers using 192.168.0.254 or 192.168.1.254 as the admin IP. BT's current Smart Hub uses 192.168.1.254. Older BT Home Hub models (versions 2–4) used 192.168.0.254. The admin page on BT hubs is typically accessed at bthomehub.home or the direct IP.

How to Log In

  1. Connect to the device's WiFi or via ethernet
  2. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.0.254
  3. For TP-Link extenders: try tplinkrepeater.net as an alternative
  4. Enter the credentials from the table above — or check the label on the device for a unique password

Troubleshooting

ProblemFix
192.168.0.254 loads main router instead of extenderYour main router might have taken this IP. Connect directly to the extender's own WiFi network.
tplinkrepeater.net not loadingOnly works when connected to the TP-Link network — try the IP directly instead
admin/admin rejected on TP-LinkPassword was changed during setup — factory reset: hold reset button 5–8 seconds
TP-Link extender IP changed after setupAfter connecting to your main WiFi, extender moves to the same subnet as the main router — use the tplinkrepeater.net hostname or find the new IP in your router's device list
